Moodbidri: Leopard trapped bringing relief to panic-stricken residents

Moodbidri. Oct 2: A leopard that had been roaming around Kallamundkoor for several days, causing fear among local residents, was finally captured in a cage.

Village residents, including Panchayat member Vasant, had informed the Moodbidri forest officials about the leopard sightings. Acting on the information, assistant conservator of forests (ACF) P Sridhar and range forest officer Kiran Kumar G directed the setup of a cage three days ago in Kalasabailu. On Tuesday, the leopard was successfully trapped.

Moodbidri deputy range forest officer Manjunath Ganiga, along with forest guard Rajesh and other officials, visited the site and transported the caged leopard. It has been reported that the leopard will be safely released into a protected forest area.
