Mangaluru, Oct 3: Rich tributes were paid to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahaddur Shastri at Expert PU College in Valachil, Mangaluru on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. The event marked the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri also, India's second prime minister.
Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, the college principal, presided over the function. He emphasised Gandhi's selfless struggles rooted in non-violence, which made him a renowned world leader and highlighted his immense contributions to India's freedom movement. Dr Karippal encouraged the students to emulate Gandhi's ideals, which remain relevant today.
Subramanya Udupa, vice-principal and Gurudath N, coaching head also spoke on the occasion. Students Glen Prince and Soumya Umesh presented the life sketches of Gandhi and Shastri respectively.
Prerana Shrinivas welcomed the gathering, hosted the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
