Mangaluru, Oct 4: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor hosted the inaugural function of first year BE classes for the batch of 2024-25 on Friday, October 4 in Kalam Auditorium. The chief guest of the programme was Sidharth Goyal IPS, DCP-law & order, Mangaluru City Commissionerate. The inaugural ceremony was attended by all the first-year students.
The programme started with an invocation by the college choir followed by welcoming the guest by the first-year coordinator & HOD, chemistry, Dr K Jyothi. The first BE 2024-25 batch was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
The department flags were unveiled by the heads of various departments along with the student representative of the respective departments. Toppers were honoured with a flower by the chief guest. Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJEC addressed the students and highlighted the importance of the institution to shape the student to become better citizens as well as responsible engineers.
Sidharth Goyal IPS, chief guest of the program inspired the students through his life experience about how to be successful in life. He insisted the students to be the owner of their life and take proper decisions in life. He highlighted the role of adaptation in life to be successful and requested the students to embrace learning beyond the classroom.
Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, director-SJEC, addressed the gathering and spoke about the role of technology and human values. He said technology is a tool but human values tell how to use these tools.
Rachana Crasta, the convenor of the programme delivered the vote of thanks. Florence Nishmitha and Prajna K compered the inaugural programme. The programme was concluded with the college anthem.
