Mangaluru: St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute inaugurates Leo Club

Mangaluru, Oct 5: The inauguration of the Leo Club at St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute was held on October 5 in the college auditorium.

The programme was presided over by chief guest, Fr John D’Souza SJ, director of SAITI; installing officer Leo Lion Sameeksha Rhea - District Leo president; guest of honour -Roshan D’Souza - principal of SAITI; Lion members Lion Jayaraj Prakash mjf - president of the Lions Club Mangalore; Lion Ravishankar Rai mjf - secretary Lions Club Mangalore; Lion Naryana Kotian - treasurer Lions Club Mangalore; Lion Wilson N - Leo advisor; newly elected Leos: Leo president - Leo Benjamin Ankith Vegas, Leo secretary - Leo Jaison Paul and Leo treasurer - Leo Vishal D’Souza. outgoing Leo officers, Leo Sushanth Poojary - Leo president; Leo Winston D’Souza Leo secretary; Leo Privisha D’Souza - Leo treasurer; Alwyn Menezes – vice principal; and Noel Lobo training officer were present.

Leo Benjamin Ankith Vegas escorted the dignitaries to the dais. Leo president Benjamin Ankith Vegas called the meeting to order.

The programme commenced with a prayer conducted by Lion Wilson N, Leo advisor. Leo flag salutation which was led by Leo Akvil MNP. Leo Akshay recited the Leo pledge.

Leo Debora Christina welcomed the gathering. Lion Wilson N introduced the new PSTs to the audience. Robin Vas introduced installing officer Leo Lion Sameeksha Rhea, district Leo president.

The installation ceremony was led by installing officer Leo Lion Sameeksha Rhea.

Roshan D’Souza, principal, addressed the gathering saying, “You get leadership, experience and opportunity from Leo Club. It provides you many opportunities for you to grow in personal and professional development. Last year many programmes have been conducted. Even this year I hope you also take the initiative and continue the same." He also congratulated the newly elected PST members.

The new PST members were then invited to the stage, where the past PST exchanged pins with them. Together with the dignitaries, the new Leo team lit the lamp symbolising a new beginning. The new president delivered an acceptance speech.

Addressing the gathering Lion Jayaraj Prakash - president of the Lions Club Mangaluru said, “By becoming part of the Leo Club you are becoming part of an international network of young leaders who share a passion for service and a commitment to making the world a better place. In our world today, where so many people face challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental crises, your service is more critical than ever. Through the Leo Club, you have the ability to make a difference whether it’s by supporting a local charity, organizing community clean-up drives, or raising awareness on important social issues. Remember, no act of service is too small. Each project, no matter the size, has the potential to transform lives. And as Leos, you are the ambassadors of hope and positive change in your communities.”

Chief guest Fr John D’Souza SJ addressed the gathering by saying, “You must take the responsibilities because you all are Leo office-bearers you have different roles given to you. You must conduct activities every month and also participate in the Leo club activities so that you build a bond with others. Planning and Reporting is very important. You must be a responsible person.”

Leo Jaison Paul proposed the vote of thanks. Fathima Safreena, student of fashion designing 2nd year and Vijay, student from plumber trade compered the programme.

The programme concluded by singing the national anthem.
