Karnataka Sangha Qatar organizes dental health awareness camp

Doha, Oct 6: Karnataka Sangha Qatar, an associate organization of the Indian Cultural Centre under the Aegis of the Indian Embassy, as part of its social responsibility organized a ‘Dental health awareness camp’ for the first time for its members.

The event was conducted on September 27 at Vibrant Industrial Training Center, Doha under the tagline ‘Wholehearted smile for everybody.’ The dental awareness camp was aimed to create awareness among the community about oral hygiene, prevention of dental diseases, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.

Seven doctors from one of the leading dental health centers in Doha ‘Kings Dental Center’ volunteered to participate and about 100 members of Karnataka Sangha Qatar enrolled and benefitted from the awareness camp.

Dr Safeera Moideen Kutty, Dr Raju Nagarada Jayanna, Dr Ruqshan Anjum Mohamed Ghalib, Dr Mithun Raveendran Malayil, Dr Naureen S A P, Dr Nebeel P P, Dr Rashmi Bangera provided personalized dental advice to all registered participants. Dr Raju lead doctor and member of Karnataka Sangha Qatar interacted with the students of Sangha’s Kannada class and covered topics such as brushing techniques, flossing, and nutrition’s impact on dental health. Participants received free dental screenings; few were referred for further treatment. Feedback from participants indicated a significant increase in awareness regarding the importance of oral hygiene.

The event was graced by Indian Cultural Centre vice president Subramanya Hebbagelu, advisory committee chairman Mahesh Gowda, advisory committee members Arun Kumar, V S Mannangi, Indian Cultural Centre past president Milan Arun, many past Management Committee members and members of Karnataka Sangha Qatar. Mega Mart sponsored the dental care kits for all the registered members. The dental awareness camp successfully raised awareness about oral health within the members' community.

Management Committee member Bhuvana Suraj took the initiative and coordinated the event with the support of all her colleagues. During the conclusion, a brief thanking session for the doctors was conducted by the joint secretary L G Patil.

Ravi Shetty, in his presidential address, narrated a Sanskrit Shloka that highlighted the importance of doctors in everybody’s life and compared doctors to lifesavers, thanked the Management Committee, and volunteers, and presented token of appreciation to all the doctors. Dr Raju Nagarada Jayanna gave insights on how leadership in Kings Dental Center is making treatments affordable for the residents of Qatar and thanked Karnataka Sangha for providing a platform for dental health awareness within the community. Management committee member Sridhar Chandra proposed a vote of thanks.
