Jammu, Nov 30 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a colonel and his second in command in the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) in Jammu and Kashmir for demanding and accepting a bribe from a contractor, according to CBI sources here.
CBI acted on a complaint from contractor Chatur Bir Singh that Colonel Vijay Partap and his second in command in BRTF were asking for a bribe of Rs.23,000 for releasing his payment of over Rs.14.5 lakh. A trap was laid and the two were arrested Tuesday evening while accepting the bribe, the sources said.
The duo was arrested from the BRTF headquarters at Udhampur, 66 km from here. They would be brought to Jammu for further interrogation.
CBI had also conducted simultaneous raids at the houses of the two officials and are reported to have recovered cash and other incriminating documents, showing their involvement in financial deals, the sources said.
