Bantwal: Man struck and killed by train near B C Road; police, railways launch inquiry

Bantwal, Oct 14: The mortal remains of a man were discovered on the railway tracks near B C Road, suspected to have been run over by a train.

The deceased has been identified as Karunakara (35), a resident of Kamaje in the taluk. A carpenter by profession, he was known for his calm demeanour and was a key support for his family. Married two years ago, he leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.

A train, traveling from Vijayapura to Mangaluru, struck Karunakara, with his torso found separated from his head near the B C Road railway station. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear, leaving authorities to determine whether it was a suicide or an accident.

Family members mentioned that Karunakara often walked along the railway tracks when commuting to B C Road for work.

Bantwal city police and railway department officials have visited the scene to conduct an investigation.
