Mangaluru: Accused involved in 24 cases arrested after evading police for a year

Mangaluru, Oct 16: Police have arrested a man accused of being involved in multiple criminal cases across various police station jurisdictions in the district after he evaded court appearances for over a year.

The arrested individual has been identified as 27-year-old Mohammad Abdul Yan, a resident of Badriya Nagar, Manjanady, Ullal. He faces charges in 24 cases registered at police stations in Konaje, Ullal, Kadaba, Barke, Uppinangady, Puttur, and Bantwal. Yan had been absconding for nearly a year, failing to appear before the court in connection with these cases.

Based on a tip-off, police arrested him in Manjeshwar. The operation was led by Konaje police inspector Rajendra B, sub-inspector Nagaraj S, and officers HC Mohammad Sharif and PC Santosh. The accused was produced in court, which has now placed him under judicial custody.
