Kasargod: Death toll in Padanna boat tragedy rises to 2 as another fisherman’s body recovered

Kasargod, Oct 17: The tragic boat accident that occurred on Wednesday, October 16, in the Padanna area has claimed two lives, with the body of missing fisherman Mujib discovered at Poonjavi beach on Thursday, October 17.

Following the incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, extensive search efforts were launched by the Coast Guard, coastal police, and local fishermen.

District officials, including deputy commissioner K Impa Shekhar, M. Rajagopal, and superintendent of police D Shilpa, oversaw the rescue operations.

The body of another victim, Abubakar, was returned to his family after a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, half of the capsized fiber boat was found near Aittal beach. Of the 37 people aboard, 35 were rescued, while one was found deceased and one remains missing.

The collaborative efforts of the coastal police and fishermen were instrumental in the rescue operations.
