Mandya, Oct 18: Over 150 leading companies, including central public sector undertakings, participated in a mega Mandya Job Fair aimed at boosting employment opportunities for the youth, which was inaugurated by Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday.

Key players from the automobile sector, as well as notable organizations such as BEML, BHEL, and representatives from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, have set up stalls and are actively recruiting potential job seekers in the job fair.

Kumaraswamy, who is also the JDS MP from Mandya, emphasized the Narendra Modi government's commitment to reducing carbon emissions, highlighting the critical role of the electric vehicle (EV) sector in achieving this goal.

He noted that HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) alone aims to provide job opportunities for engineering graduates from related fields, underscoring the fair's focus on sustainable employment.

He hoped that more than 2,500 youths would secure jobs through the fair and explained that it will significantly benefit their families.

The Union Minister announced plans to establish a dedicated wing within his ministry to assist youths in their job search, aiming to enhance support and resources for employment seekers.

The motivation for organizing this job fair stems from Kumaraswamy's promise to provide employment opportunities to the youth before his election.

He stated: "Today I have walked the talk," emphasizing his commitment to delivering on this promise. He acknowledged that while establishing industries overnight is challenging, the job fair serves as a vital platform for immediate employment solutions, with a goal of securing jobs for at least 2,500 youth.

Lambasts Cong Govt

Kumaraswamy lashed out at the Congress government and said accused it of failing to maintain a constructive relationship with the central government.

He lamented the lack of decorum and dignity in their approach, which he believes politicizes essential issues. He reaffirmed his dedication to reviving public sector undertakings (PSUs) nationwide to enhance job prospects and contribute positively to the Indian economy.

The minister pointed out that Rs15,000 crore is needed to revive VSIL, emphasizing the urgent need for financial support to boost employment.
