Karkala: Car accident injures six pilgrims traveling to Dharmasthala

Karkala, Oct 22: A car carrying pilgrims to Dharmasthala collided with a bridge after the driver lost control near Ajekaru.

Six people, originally from Hubballi, were traveling in an Innova from Agumbe to Dharmasthala when the accident occurred around 5:30 am on Sunday. The vehicle crashed into a bridge on the state highway near Ajekaru.

The injured have been identified as Manjunath Gowda (28), Atmanand (24), Hanumanth Gowda (23), Halappa Gowda (24), Veerabhadra Gowda (28), and Basanagowda (27). The front portion of the car was severely damaged in the accident.

Emergency personnel from the Ajekaru 108 ambulance service, led by pilot Nagaraj Angadi, responded promptly and transported the injured to Udupi District Hospital. A case has been registered at the Ajekaru police station.
