Shimla, Dec 4 (IANS): Counting of votes began Sunday in two assembly constituencies of Himachal Pradesh that saw by-polls Nov 30.
The counting in Renuka (reserved) and Nalagarh began at 8 a.m. The results are expected before noon, state chief electoral officer Narinder Chauhan said.
While Renuka in Sirmaur district saw 73.99 percent polling, Nalagarh in Solan district witnessed 80.66 percent polling.
The main contest is between the opposition Congress and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The byelections have been necessitated by the death of former BJP minister and three times MLA H.N. Saini (Nalagarh) and six times Congress MLA Prem Singh (Renuka).
