Mangaluru, Oct 24: The allocation of certain spaces within Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits for the sale of firecrackers during the Deepavali festival has sparked heated discussions.

On Wednesday, MCC officials arrived at Nehru Maidan to begin the tender process and identify spaces for setting up firecracker stalls. However, the Cricket Association objected to the use of the cricket ground for this purpose.

Speaking to the media, Geetanjali said, "MCC officials requested that the gate be opened as they were conducting the tender process for firecracker stalls at Nehru Maidan. I asked them to provide the order in writing. However, the MCC officials claim they have permission from the district administration. Even the court has ruled that Nehru Maidan should be used solely for games and sports. We have brought this to the attention of MCC officials."

The land (Nehru Maidan) donated only for games and sports. But now misused for political, religion and business purpose.

Happy Deepawali, enjoy the festival. Do not harm others. Do not pollute the environment. Causing harm to the environment means causing harm to me only. I have to live in that environment after the use of dangerous things. Aftermath of the hazardous I only have to face. No use of blaming others afterwards. Better wake up before and avoid the problems later. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
