Udupi, Oct 24: In an accident that occurred on Thursday, October 24 evening on the Ambalpady National Highway, two bike riders were seriously injured in a collision between a bike and a lorry.
Upon receiving information, social worker Vishu Shetty immediately rushed to the scene and transported the injured to Hi-Tech Hospital in his jeep, thereby saving the lives of the bike riders from imminent danger.
The rider, Nikhil, was critically injured and is unconscious, while the pillion rider, Sandeep, has regained consciousness. Both are residents of Padubidri, according to reports.
To transport the severely injured bike riders to the hospital, Vishu Shetty had to drive his vehicle on the wrong side of the highway.
The distance from Abco Steel to Hi-Tech Hospital is about 1 km, and to reach it, one would have to take a detour to Balayipade. However, not wanting to waste precious time during this critical "golden hour," Vishu Shetty chose to take the risk and drove on the wrong side with his headlights on, making a daring attempt to save the injured.
Vishu Shetty also stated that information about the incident has been provided to the Udupi Traffic Police Station.
