Mangaluru, Oct 25: The Guardian Angel Church in Angelore celebrated Altar Boys’ Annual Day with great joy and devotion on Sunday, October 20. The day began with a solemn Holy Mass led by parish priest Fr Fredrick Monteiro.
Following the Mass, a gathering was held in the Church’s Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall, where the annual report was presented, and awards for last year’s competitions were distributed.
Fr Stany Fernandes, resident priest, delivered the main address, emphasising the essential role of altar boys in Holy Mass and commending their dedication.
In his presidential address, Fr Fredrick Monteiro highlighted altar service as a foundation for a spiritual calling, leading to priesthood and religious life, and expressed his gratitude to the parents for encouraging their children’s involvement in altar service. The altar boys then performed a vibrant and meaningful cultural programme, adding to the day’s celebrations.
Among those present were vice-president of the Church committee, Paul Rodrigues; secretary, Lolina D'Souza; coordinator of 21 commissions, Renita Menezes; motivator, Sarita D'Silva and Jeevan Lobo along with Altar Boys Association president, Riva Pinto, and secretary, Glenith D’Cunha. The event fostered a spirit of unity and faith, celebrating the young altar servers' dedication to their spiritual duties.
