Sensex Opens with Negative Bias


Mumbai, Dec 5 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities Monday was ruling weak in opening trade after the robust rally in the previous week.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 16,812.3 points, was ruling at 16,778.39 points, minutes into trade, 68.44 points or 0.41 percent down from its previous close at 16,846.83 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also was trading lower at 5,029.4 points, down 0.41 percent or 20.75 points from its previous close.

The Sensex and the Nifty had rallied over 7 percent in the previous week.

Broader markets were subdued with the BSE 500 index down 0.34 percent.
