Udupi: Burglar Who Used Duplicate Key Arrested

Udupi, Dec 5: The local policemen have succeeded in hunting down a burglar who had stolen gold ornaments worth about eight lac rupees from the bedroom of an apartment complex at Santekatte near here recently.

He has been identified as Arun K Hegde, a native of Kuruvalli in Teerthahalli taluk, Shimoga district. It is learnt that he was lurking in the vicinity of the apartment for an opportunity, when owner of the apartment, Pushpa, locked the front door of her home on November 30 and went out briefly. Arun reportedly used the opportunity to open the door with a duplicate key, and take away gold ornaments.

The policemen said that the apartment owner had sought Arun’s help some time back to get a duplicate key for the door, as one of the keys had gone missing. While getting duplicate keys made, he got an additional set of key for himself, they added.
