District prison, Mangaluru celebrates National Ayurveda Day

Mangaluru, Oct 29: To commemorate the 9th National Ayurveda Day on October 29, the district prison Mangaluru organised a day-long free ayurvedic medical camp for the 425 prison inmates and staff on October 28. The medical camp was on bone density tests, dermatology, blood sugar test, heart related ailments, cancer detection tests. The camp was organised at the initiative of the prison superintendent B T Obaleshappa and jail officials and Prof Edmund Frank, St Aloysius (Deemed to Be University) Mangaluru.

The Karnataka Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Srivedamayu Ayurvedic Hospital and Kanachur Medical College participated in the medical camp.

 

This medical camp is in accordance with the 5 month diploma programme organised by St Aloysius (Deemed To Be University) for a team of 45 prison inmates in ayurvedic medicine and disease prevention in order to bring in a transformation of their mind and lives and enable them to lead a dignified life.
