Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School celebrates Deepavali 2024

Mangaluru, Oct 30: Deepavali, a festival of lights was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervor at Lourdes Central School on of October 30 with the theme “celebrating the triumph of light over ignorance and darkness”.

The prayer song sung by the school choir created the divine ambience in the school ground. The festivity began with the lighting of the lamp by the principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principals Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas, teacher in charge Rekha Naveen and the student representatives, symbolizing the arrival of knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment.

Shreshtashree of class VIIC read the shloka from Bhagavad Gita emphasizing the importance of light in each one’s life. The enthralling and engaging dance drama on Narakasura presented by the students of class VIII, touched everyone’s heart with its meaningful message and graceful presentation.

Fr Johnson L Sequeira, principal, LCS in his address insisted the students to be gentle and kind and be the light in other’s life by their good deeds and actions. He also emphasized that even the negative feelings of jealousy and anger should be cleaned from our body, mind and soul. The entire celebration was compered by Tanisha and Dhruv of Class IXA.

The school was adorned with vibrant lightings and diyas, colorful rangoli representing positivity and happiness all around. Thus, Deepavali celebration at LCS was a resounding success, fostering unity, cultural awareness and joy among the school community.
