Mangalore, Dec 7: Entrepreneur, Ramesh S, has been appointed as the new chairman of Mangalore Urban Development Authroity (MUDA), by the state government. He is expected to take charge of the new post today. He succeeds Dr Madhava Bhandary, whose term as MUDA chairman expired recently.

Ramesh S, who is a native of Kateel, has been involved with business, politics, religious, and social sectors. He has been serving as the managing trustee of Attavar Lord Umamaheshwara Temple in the city since the last about two decades. He also has served as the district general secretary of Ganiga Sangha for 20 years. Recently, under his leadership, Umamaheshwara temple was renovated at a cost of Rs 60 lac with the help of devotees. At present, he has been functioning as the treasurer of BJP Dakshina Kannada district unit. He also is active in programmes of the Sangh Parivar.

Ramesh happens to be the founder director of The Karavali Credit Cooperative Society, and owns ‘Shilpa Colour Lab’ set up by him in the city about 28 years back.

Ramesh has bagged the district level Rajyotsava Award in recognition of his services in various fields.
