Kundapur, Oct 30: In a startling incident on Nagoor-Uppalli Road in Kirimanjeshwara village, a mini truck carrying soil overturned after the driver lost control, causing soil to spill onto a woman riding a scooter from the opposite direction. The accident occurred at a bend in the road on Wednesday.
The woman, identified as Aarthi Shetty, was trapped under the soil from the overturned truck. She was rescued and immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. The mini truck was en route from Herur to Nagoor when the driver lost control at the curve, causing it to overturn. At the same time, Aarthi Shetty was on her way from Nagoor to Nujadi, and the soil from the truck fell onto her.
As the truck overturned, Aarthi managed to swerve her scooter to the left, narrowly avoiding a life-threatening situation. Kodi Ashok Poojary, who was a witness to the incident from another vehicle, quickly moved the soil away from her and lifted her face up to ensure she could breathe. Local residents, including Chandrasheel Shetty and a few auto-rickshaw drivers, soon arrived and helped rescue both the trapped driver and the woman, transporting them to the hospital.
The woman sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Byndoor police have taken note of the incident and are investigating.
