Puttur: St Philomena Autonomous College holds workshop on academic excellence with LaTeX

Puttur, Oct 31: The Department of Mathematics at St Philomena College (Autonomous), organized a one-day workshop titled ‘Academic Excellence with LaTeX’ aimed at enhancing students presentation and documentation skills through the versatile LaTeX software. The event highlighted the importance of mastering LaTeX essentials for effective academic and professional communication.

The workshop was inaugurated by the principal, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who presided over the event. In his address, Dr Monteiro emphasized that LaTeX, once perceived as a tool exclusive to science and mathematics, has now evolved into a versatile platform that can cater to a wide array of academic disciplines.

He encouraged students to harness the power of LaTeX and apply their newfound skills in academic and professional settings.

Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, vice principal of the college, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

The key highlight of the workshop was an interactive and hands-on session led by Jeevitha K S, assistant professor in the PG department of mathematics. She guided them through the fundamentals of LaTeX and demonstrating practical applications of the software.

Thanuja N P, head of the department of mathematics (UG), was present on the dais. Dr K Chandrashekar, head of the department of physics, along with Rakshitha K Shetty and Poojashree V Rai, assistant professors in the departments of mathematics and physics, were present on the occasion.

The programme commenced with a prayer rendered by Manasa and team from III BSc S Shivani Machaiah of III BSc extended a warm welcome and while Fathima Safa of III BSc proposed the vote of thanks. Shreedevi N of III BSc compered.
