Mumbai, Oct 31: The 17th annual general meeting of the Charkop Kannadigas Association was held on Saturday, October 26, at the Poisar Gymkhana auditorium in Kandivali West.
The meeting, presided over by association president Ravindra M Shetty, saw the women’s wing secretary Shanta Y Bhat read out the 16th annual report. The annual accounts were unanimously approved. Sadashiv C Poojary was appointed as the internal auditor for the 2024-25 term, and Vilas Madvi & Company was appointed as the external auditor. The late trustee M S Rao's wife, Bharati Rao, was unanimously nominated as the third trustee.
Speaking at the event, Ravindra M Shetty acknowledged the contributions and encouragement of the association's senior members, the hard work of the executive and sub-committees, and the advice and support of donors and well-wishers. He emphasized the need for continued support and blessings to lead the association in preserving and promoting Indian culture, traditions, and the Kannada language, especially with contributions from Dakshina Kannada district entrepreneurs.
Students who achieved top scores in the last academic year were recognized with the Pratibha Puraskar award and honorarium.
Trustee Jay C Shetty, former president Krishna M Shetty, Malad Kannada Sangha's Shankar D Poojary, Dr N G Bhat, Petemane Prakash Shetty, and patron Shashidhar Hegde shared valuable suggestions for the association’s future development.
Charkop Kannadigas Association senior members Shankar D Poojary and Lata Vijay Bangera were honored for their election as members of the executive committee of the Billava Association Mumbai.
Trustee Bhaskar Sarapadi shared heartfelt words, noting that the association has prioritized cultural and educational programs for many years. Now, as the association nears its silver jubilee celebrations, the executive committee has decided to organize various programs leading up to next year's Navaratri Sharada Mahotsava.
Honorary advisor Karunakar Kannarapady, Poisar Gymkhana vice president Karunakar Shetty, treasurer Rajivi R Kotian, women’s wing president Padmavathi B Shetty, cultural committee secretary Roopa Bhat, joint treasurer Lata Bangera, Mohan Shetty, Avinash Shetty, Vani Samagonda, Rashmi Acharya, Yamuna B Salian, Shubha Suvarna, members of the women’s wing, annual day committee president Harish K Shewar, Veena Deepak Suvarna, Kaushik Sarapadi, and sub-committee members all contributed to the success of the general meeting.
The meeting began with a prayer and the lighting of the lamp in honor of the association’s deity, Shri Sharada Mata, led by women members. General secretary Prakash M Kotian welcomed the members, and joint secretary Vani Y Samagonda introduced the president. Vice president Avinash Shetty concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks.
