Mangaluru, Nov 1: Karnataka the land of beauty, splendor, charm and bravery was formed on November 1st1973 after the unification of the Mysore State.
Lourdes Central School celebrated the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava with great respect and pride at LCS Ground on November 1.
The programme graced by the presence of the principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principals Belita Mascarnhas and Anitha Thomas, Fr Arul, the head boy H Adesh Rao and the head girl Diya N Yashodhar began by hoisting the tri coloured flag by the principal and singing the National Anthem followed by hoisting the flag of Karnataka and singing the Karnataka State Anthem patriotically.
The prayer song was sung by the school choir. Adhya Hegde of class 8C welcomed the gathering and Swarith Salian of class 8A highlighted the importance of the day. The students of classes 8 to 10 sang melodious and heart-warming songs in Kannada and danced to the tunes of patriotic Kannada songs. Srishti Pavoor of class 10C presented the mono act depicting a scene from the life of Keladi Rani Chenamma which left the audience spell bound.
The principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira in his message in Kannada highlighted the importance of Kannada and the origin of Karnataka wherein our ancestors have sacrificed their lives giving rise to the dual coloured flag: the red colour symbolising blood of sacrifice and yellow denoting peace and prosperity. He also mentioned that we being the residents of Karnataka must be proud of our state and celebrate this great day with devotion.
He thanked all the teachers in charge and the parents who helped and cooperated to put up this great event.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Tejas Kamalaksha of class 9C and the whole programme was compered by Sameeksha Rao of class 10C which was witnessed by all the LCS staff and the students of classes 7 to 12 along with their parents. The programme ended with the school Anthem.
