Mangaluru, Nov 1: St Agnes CBSE School, Bendur, celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava with enchanting festivities, marking the vibrant spirit of Karnataka's unity. Observed with fervour and joy across Kannada-speaking regions, Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1, brought the school aglow with cultural pride and exuberance.
The programme began with a ceremonial escort of the chief guest, Prof Jasmine Saritha Vas, led by a rhythmic marching band to the flagpole. In a moment of pride and respect, she hoisted the national flag, followed by the reverent unfurling of the Karnataka flag. The national anthem was sung with enthusiasm, and the state anthem followed as the Karnataka flag was raised.
Distinguished attendees included Principal Sr Maria Sarika AC, vice principal Sr Meena Fernandes AC, physical education director Devika, PTA member Pradeep Misquith, along with students and parents, all gathered to mark this auspicious occasion.
The gathering convened in the school auditorium for the cultural programme, which began with a heartfelt invocation seeking divine blessings. Students welcomed the audience with rhythmic movements and graceful steps, setting the tone for the celebration. The chief guest was honoured with a floral bouquet and a model of Karnataka, symbolizing the occasion's spirit. Students from Grades 3, 5, and 8 performed melodious Kannada songs, followed by a skit highlighting the importance of the Kannada language. Folk and classical dance forms showcased the vibrant cultural heritage of Karnataka, culminating in a mesmerizing dance performance that left the audience spellbound.
Prof Jasmine Saritha Vas, the esteemed chief guest and professor at Yenepoya University encouraged students to cultivate a deep appreciation for the Kannada language, emphasizing its enduring significance over a rich 2000-year history. She also engaged students with an interactive Kannada language quiz, rewarding participants with tokens of appreciation.
Students who excelled in various subjects in the Olympiad exams conducted by the Silverzone Foundation were honoured with medals. The awards were presented by chief guest Prof Saritha Vas, principal Sr Maria Sarika AC, vice principal Sr Meena Fernandes AC, and PTA member Pradeep Misquith, recognizing the students' remarkable achievements.
The programme was skilfully hosted by Adithi and Yashaswi of grade 8. Diya of grade 8 warmly welcomed the gathering, while Anshel of grade 8 eloquently shared the significance of the day. The vote of thanks was graciously delivered by Risha of grade 5. The programme concluded with the uplifting rendition of the school anthem.
