Luminaries in various fields from DK, Udupi get district-level Rajyotsava awards

Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 1: The respective district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have recognised several luminaries from diverse fields for the Karnataka Rajyotsava awards this year.

Dakshina Kannada: 56 achievers and 20 organizations honored

The Dakshina Kannada district-level Rajyotsava awards have been announced, with 56 individuals and 20 organizations recognized for their contributions.

In the Social Service category, notable recipients include Mercy Veena D’Souza, Srikrishna Hegde, J Anand Sons, Dayanath Kotian, Herbert D’Souza, Aruru Lakshmi Rao, Prabhakar Shreyan, and Abdulla Moydin, among others. In the Fine Arts category, Srinivas Rai from Kadaba, Sadashiva D Tumbe, M Venugopal from Puttur, and others were recognized.

Awards also went to various achievers across fields, including Kambala (John Cyril D’Souza), Medical (Dr B S Sachidanand Rai, Dr Anand Venugopal), Agriculture (Padmanabha Kotian, Ronald Fernandes), and Sports (Mohammad Hanif, Sohel Kandok). Other categories included journalism, music, art, folklore, and education, celebrating a wide range of talents and services.

In the Organizations category, awards went to groups such as Buntara Sangha Bajpe, Olavina Halli Resettlement and Community Development Centre in Someshwar, and The Voice of Blood Donors Mangaluru, among others, for their contributions to education, sports, social welfare, and cultural initiatives.

Udupi: 44 achievers and 6 organizations honored

In Udupi, 44 individuals and 6 organizations have been selected for the district-level Rajyotsava awards, presented at the Kannada Rajyotsava event held at Ajjarakadu district stadium. District in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar presided over the ceremony.

Awardees in Social Service include Korgi Vithal Shetty, K Taranath Holla, Shekar Hejmadi, Uday Acharya from Kundapur, and Abhinandan A Shetty. In Yakshagana, recipients include Sanjeev Shetty from Byndoor, Uday Kumar from Brahmavar, and others. The Theatre category recognized Bhasuma Kodagu from Katapady, and the Literature category honored Shankar U Manjeshwar from Kote Manor.

In Agriculture, Mumbaru Dinakar Shetty and Joseph Lobo from Kaup were awarded, while Music saw awards for Ashok Serigar from Udupi and Sunil Devadiga from Karkala. In the Religious category, Srinivas Tantri from Kaup received recognition, and in Sports, Suresh Kelarkalabetta from Udupi was honored.

Among Organizations, Kapu Taluk’s Shirva Mahila Mandal, Vishnumurthy Friends of Udupi Doddanagudde, and Gajanana Yakshagana Kala Sangha from Badanidiyoor received awards for their contributions in diverse fields.

These awards celebrate the achievements and community contributions of individuals and organizations across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava.
