Kannada Sangha premises in Sri Vijaya Puram, Port Blair celebrates 69th Kannada Rajyostava

Port Blair, Nov 3: The 69th Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great pomp and show at the Kannada Sangha premises in Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Andaman & Nicobar Islands on November 2.

The programme commenced with performing of the pooja to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari and rendition of the Kannada Nada Geete by the members of the sangha. This was followed by a cultural evening that included introduction of new members, rendition of songs and film dialogues, dance performances and many other programmes.

The gathering consisted of members who hailed from different parts of Karnataka and presently serving in the various departments like Defence forces, Agriculture, Education, Medical, Banks, Telecom, etc. in the A&N islands.

Irrespective of the various dialects of Kannada, the spirit of oneness and love for Kannada was exemplified during the celebration. Mutappa and Nelson Almeida chaired the celebrations.

Pavan, Sachin, Sharan, Dr Prabhu compered the celebration spreading the joy of being a proud Kannadiga. The gathering than was treated to a lavish dinner hosted by the sangha.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a pledge to keeping the lamp of Kannada glowing in the A&N islands and provide a feel of home-coming to all the Kannadigas who land on these islands of India.
