Bantwal, Nov 3: Tragedy struck in Kadegoli near Thumbe when a private bus collided with a motorcycle, killing 30-year-old Praveen instantly. His friend, Sandeep, suffered severe injuries and is currently in intensive care at a Mangaluru hospital.

The two salesmen were returning home after work when their bike was hit by the bus travelling from Mangaluru towards B C Road on the National Highway. Witnesses report that the bus was speeding recklessly at the time of the accident.

Authorities have filed a case against the bus driver at the Melkar Traffic Police Station, with traffic sub-inspector Suthesh going on-site for the investigation.

Local residents are outraged by the rising number of accidents involving private buses, demanding stricter enforcement from the RTO and traffic police. They warn that without action against reckless driving, more lives could be at risk on these highways.

Both individuals are my neighbors, and they were known to be very good people. Over the past few years, numerous accidents have been occurring at various junctions between B.C Road and Mangalore. I can name a few: Arkula, Farangipete, Maripalla, Kadegoli, and the Padil junction. These locations have seen several accidents, resulting in many lost lives. I humbly request that any relevant authorities, such as the DC, RTO, or other responsible agencies, take action to prevent further accidents at these critical spots.

Bus driver's are rash driver's, accepted. But for almost all accidents, the culprit/cause are the 2 wheeler driver's. They put other vehicle driver's at risk. They are a menace on road. Because of their joy-driving others lives are lost. The traffic police need to strictly pull up these 2 wheeler driver's. Deterrent would be re-test and fining accordingly.

Very sad.Hope the other one will survive and get back to health soon.Such news are becoming more and more ,now daily.Bus driver should have been pulled out and put under the same bus and ask him if he is driving under alcohol or drugs.Cncel his licence and put him in jail. Why one doesnt drive carefully.Heartfelt sympathy to the family.May his soul rest in peace.Driver should pay the compansation to both family now.

Every month, we witness 2-3 killings due to the recklessness of private buses, yet there is no action from the authorities regarding this issue. It is tragic that young lives are being lost because of this recklessness. Moreover, there are Instagram pages that glorify the rash driving of these private buses. The government and Mangalore authorities must implement strict measures to address the nuisance created by private buses.
