Udupi: MP Kota Srinivas Poojary directs banks to expedite central govt scheme loans

Udupi, Nov 5: Emphasizing the timely disbursement of loans under central government schemes such as Vishwakarma, Swanidhi, Mudra, and Startup, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has directed banks to avoid any delays.

During a review meeting on the progress of these schemes, held at Dr V S Acharya Auditorium in Rajathadri on Monday November 4, he highlighted that in Udupi district, 4,465 beneficiaries have received the first phase of Swanidhi loans, while many are still awaiting the second and third phases. So far, 2,865 beneficiaries have received the second phase, and 845 have accessed the third phase. Poojary strongly instructed bank officials to ensure that all beneficiaries who have completed the first phase are provided with the remaining phases.

He also discussed the preparations for an upcoming approval letter distribution event on November 8 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium. He directed banks to distribute approval letters to at least 100 beneficiaries each. While reviewing loan approvals from various banks, Kota underscored that there should be no reluctance in disbursing loans. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a self-reliant India, and this can only be achieved if each bank employee works to support this dream,” he remarked.

Addressing the media, Kota assured that beneficiaries facing delays can contact him directly. “If any bank hesitates to grant loans under central government schemes, reach out to me. I will intervene to resolve the issue with the concerned bank,” he stated. Additionally, he encouraged beneficiaries to attend the November 8 event in large numbers to ensure its success.

The meeting was also attended by zilla panchayat CEO Pratik Bayal and lead bank manager Harish.

This reminds me of our past MP Mr. Janardhan Poojary who used to visit nationalised bank branches and threaten the Bank Manager to sanction loans under the 20 Point Program of late PM Indira Gandhi, which turned many banks into red due to default in repayment. Populist measures, I think we need to learn from the past mistakes and Mr. Poojary too should learn from such past experiments and not to become over enthusiastic but to think with a cool mind.
