Udupi: District PU College Lecturers’ Union Protests Seeking Benefits

Udupi, Dec 10: The district Pre-University College Lecturers’ Union staged a protest in front of the office of the deputy commissioner on Friday December 9, urging the state administration to grant various benefits.

Lecturers across the district boycotted classes on Thursday December 8 in this regard.


The lecturers urged the state administration to fix a monthly salary of Rs 14,050 for a lecturer of a pre-university college, to fix Rs 18,150 as monthly salary of the principal of a pre-university college based on the circular dated July 1 2005, to withdraw time-bound wages of contract lecturers, to address the issue of time-bound wages of lecturers of aided pre-university colleges, to relax the compulsory requirement of B Ed in appointing lecturers in pre-university colleges, to strictly implement the order of the state education department related to job security and minimum wages for lecturers of aided pre-university colleges, and to promote eligible lecturers of pre-university college to degree colleges.
Union office-bearers Meti Mudiappa and H L Keshavamurti were present on the occasion.
