Mangaluru, Nov 9: A private bus with a route permit was fined Rs 5,000 for picking up passengers from Mangaluru Central railway station, violating the regulations.

The bus was carrying passengers who had arrived from Mumbai by train. It was intercepted at Thokkottu by members of the Dakshina Kannada Taximen's and Maxicab Association, who reported the violation to the police.

The police subsequently imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.

Members of the Taximen's Association expressed concern over financial difficulties, stating that private vehicles and route buses are taking passengers arriving by train. They urged the police and RTO to take strict action against such violations.
