Udupi, Nov 9: In a mishap caused by ongoing roadwork, a lorry transporting granite stones reversed and crashed into a roadside garage at Parkala, severely damaging four parked two-wheelers.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 9, when the lorry, en route from Bengaluru to Herga, was ascending the uphill stretch of a new road in Parkala. Due to the poor condition of the adjacent road connecting the new national highway, the heavy vehicle struggled to climb and slid back, colliding with the nearby garage.

Four two-wheelers parked in the garage sustained significant damage. Fortunately, a person inside the garage had a narrow escape.

This is not the first such incident at this location; a few months ago, a city bus faced a similar issue, highlighting the risks posed by the unfinished roadwork in the area.
