Puttur: Woman buys scooter for husband using Gruha Lakshmi scheme funds

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Nov 11: A woman utilized the funds accumulated through the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, introduced by the Congress-led state government of Karnataka, to buy a scooter for her husband, aiding him in his daily commute to work.

Misriya, a resident of Shantinagar near Kodimbadi, bought a scooter for her husband, Saleem, who works as a painter. Saleem often travels to distant places for his daily wage work. Misriya used Rs 20,000 accumulated from the Gruha Lakshmi scheme as an advance payment for the scooter. She plans to continue paying the loan instalments using the monthly funds deposited into her account through the scheme.

Saleem met local MLA Ashok Kumar Rai and expressed his gratitude, stating that his life had improved thanks to the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, and the scooter would greatly assist him in reaching his workplaces. MLA Rai felicitated Saleem for his gesture.

Saleem has displayed a placard acknowledging the financial aid from the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, along with photographs of chief minister Siddaramaiah, DyCM D K Shivakumar, minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, and MLA Ashok Kumar Rai.

Congress govt schemes are to help people. How best and how wisely to use the schemes to help their families is left to the families too. They know what is their need better than the people sitting in AC rooms, with a big belly. In any govt schemes across the country, its been always a problem about its last mile reach, to target group and in full. It is reaching. That is fantastic. If auditors are to raise red flags, let them go to corporate houses, to find where gone the lakhs of crores loan money, waived by central govt. This amounts coming to people is peanuts in comparison.

It is up to the woman, but this scheme is for women empowerment. Not sure how buying a scooter for her husband empowers Misriya. If Government departments do this, it will be red flagged during audit as misuse of funds.

Whatever be the scooter money belonged to woman and she gifted to her husband. Gifting is not prohibited in the law or in the guarantees as it didn't specify where to utilise where not to be utilised. Whereas your BJP Brhasta Jumla Paapies have filled 40% in their wallets. Congress government without corruption given to Karnataka people. Chaiwala introduced Congress guarantees in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh and still they criticize Congress guarantees.

Dear MOHAMMED MUBIN, Udupi/ Dubai, In principle agree with you that there are some drunkards who are leaving their families to fend for themselves with or without Griha Lakshmi scheme. But then, if you ask Siddu, it is "kereya neeranu kerege chelli" That 2000 is coming back to Siddu via excise department in part or full. Yes, Siddu's excise department is setting target to all the liquor shop license holders to sell more alcohol. And that license is not coming cheap, and it has a definite best before use date too. Siddu ka charo ungli ghee main..!

This is showing gratitude to the benefactor. Bible says 10 were cured but only one turned up to express gratitude. Majority take benefit - enjoy fruits of some one else's benevolence but fail to acknowledge and thank the giver. Some even go to the extent of favouring opponents at the behest of the instigators one needn't elaborate. May the giver prosper and continue the good work.

Kudos to the Siddaramaiah government for empowering women through the Gruha Lakshmi scheme! It's heartwarming to see initiatives that not only support financial independence but also foster love and partnership, as seen in Puttur where a woman proudly purchased a scooter for her husband. This is truly a testament to the positive impact of the scheme on families and communities. Keep up the great work!
