Kasargod: Media Students Film Documentary on ‘Tenku Tittu Yakshagana’ Puppetry

Kasargod, Dec 11: Bangalore-based electronic media students visited Kasargod and did a documentary on the puppets of Pilikunje’s Gopalkrishna Yakshagana Bombeyata Sangha.

The students belong to Conversions Institute of Management and Information Studies, Institute of Experimental Learning College, founded by Meher Sheik and Kokila Rangaswamy.

The glory of Yakshagana, relationship between puppetry and Yakshagana, its sublimity of performances, colours, and artistic masks have been  documented by them meaningfully.  After viewing the ‘Thenku Tittu Yakshagana’ art and dialogues, they recorded details and were mesmerized by the puppets.

K V Ramesh, senior artist and director, Gopalkrishna Yakshagana Bombeyata Sangha, explained it to them. Team members like K V Tirumalesh and K V Sudasrshan were also with him.  Girija Venkatkrishnaiah, wife of late K Venkatkrishnaiah, founder of Gopalkrishna Yakshagan Bombeyata Sangha, was present.

The media students also studied and documented the effects of Endosulfan in this region and visuals of Theyyam art.  They are expected to visit again for more filming.
