Mangaluru, Nov 13: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, concluded the vibrant celebration of “Festember 2k24” on November 10. The two-day festival, held on November 9 and 10, transformed the school grounds into a lively hub of talent, joy, and community spirit, nurturing student creativity, leadership, and the school’s commitment to excellence.

The festivities commenced on November 9 with an electrifying flash mob performance by grade 10 students, setting the tone with infectious energy.

A grand procession followed, featuring the school band and a convoy of open jeeps carrying esteemed dignitaries, including Raja B S, general manager, operational department, Karnataka Bank Ltd, and Sanil Kumar B, assistant general manager and regional head, Bank of Baroda, Mangaluru. Principal Sr Melissa, administrator Sr Carrissima, joint secretary Sr Josephine Pais, superior Sr Asha Prima, and vice principal Sr Teena were also present.

The event was marked by a soulful prayer song seeking blessings for the success of the two-day celebrations. In her welcome address, principal Sr Melissa extended heartfelt greetings and highlighted the significance of the event. A flower sapling was presented to the chief guests as a gesture of gratitude for their support.

The dignitaries inaugurated the festival with a symbolic release of balloons and the ‘Hat,’ a tribute to the theme “Hatitude.” The ceremony included the unveiling of a special theme song composed by students from grades 9 and 10, showcasing the school’s creative talent.

The chief guests praised the school’s efforts in fostering a nurturing environment for young minds. They acknowledged the significant role Mount Carmel Central School plays in shaping future leaders and encouraged students to continue pursuing excellence. Following the inauguration, the guests visited the stalls, played games, and interacted with students, parents, and attendees.

The festival featured a variety of interactive stalls and live performances, celebrating the school’s cultural vibrancy. Celebrities were seen engaging with students, commending the meticulous planning and collaborative spirit that made ‘Festember 2k24’ a success.

On November 10, the festival reached its peak with a lineup of music, dance, and interactive events. The day began with a serene prayer, followed by Jereth’s rendition of the Festember theme song. The high-energy football tournament ‘Futsal’ drew an enthusiastic crowd, adding excitement to the day.

A standout event was the “Clan of Stars” competition, where families showcased their singing, dancing, and acting skills. The on-stage performances featured students, ex-students, parents, and celebrities. The highlight was the ‘Tiger Dance’ and ‘Chende drummers,’ showcasing Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage. Principal Sr Melissa and staff / parent representatives honoured the celebrities with mementos.

Anticipation peaked during the lucky draw, with grand prizes such as a washing machine, home theatre system, and bicycle awarded to delighted winners. Sr Melissa and Sr Carrissima selected the winners, adding a personal touch to the moment. Housie games, auctions, and spot games entertained the crowd, while the "Hatitude" contestants were recognised for their creativity.

Food stalls offered a range of snacks and Kerala delicacies, complementing the game stalls that provided fun for all ages. The event concluded with an electrifying DJ set by DJ Suman and team, with the crowd dancing into the evening.

The two-day ‘Festember 2k24’ highlighted the talent of students, ex-students, parents, and celebrities, reinforcing the school’s values of collaboration, innovation, and gratitude.
