Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Nov 14: Manipal police have seized a Kerala-registered truck transporting asphalt and tar unsafely, and have filed a case against the driver.

The truck was traveling on Perampalli Road when pieces of asphalt fell onto the road, causing inconvenience to other motorists. Concerned members of the public alerted the police. Despite being signalled to stop, the truck driver continued driving. The police chased the vehicle and eventually intercepted it near the Kakkunje railway bridge.

A case has been registered against the truck driver, Sanganagowda Patil, at the Manipal police station.

If we fail to pay taxes on time or if our documents, like insurance, expire, the government imposes fines on us. However, if government projects like road construction or other public services are delayed, there should be a way for citizens to impose fines on the government or the officials responsible for the task. Every day, we drive on bad roads, damaging vehicles that we purchase with our hard-earned money. Moreover, we already pay taxes for these roads when we buy our vehicles, yet we bear the brunt of poor infrastructure.
