Mangaluru: St Aloysius Pre-University College celebrates Children's Day

Mangaluru, Nov 15: St Aloysius Pre-University College celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and joy on November 14. The college's Students' Council organized a vibrant programme of the occasion, beginning with a prayer song that set a reflective tone.

In his address, the principal Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ extended heartfelt wishes to the students, underscoring the college’s commitment to providing diverse platforms for them to showcase their talents and skills. He expressed his hopes for the students’ growth in all areas, emphasising that their development should not be limited to academic intelligence alone. He highlighted the importance of cultivating emotional intelligence, which he noted is crucial for building healthy relationships.

Fr Clifford encouraged students to be bold, courageous, and resilient as they navigate their educational journey and beyond. The celebration also included the final round of Mr and Ms Aloysius competition, auditions of which were conducted earlier. Abhiram Muralidhar (I PU) received the title of Mr Aloysius, while Fae Martis (I PU) won the title of Ms Aloysius, a moment met with warm applause from the audience. The prize distribution ceremony honored the winners of various competitions, celebrating their achievements. The programme also saw active participation from both teaching and non-teaching staff, who joined in the celebrations with enthusiasm and dedication.

To mark Children’s Day, the college organized various competitions under the banner Aloysian Got Talent, which allowed students to display their individual skills. Rahul (I PUC) was the winner and Bipin Gonsalves (II PUC) was the runner up. A series of friendly matches between staff and students further added to the excitement, featuring cricket, throwball, and a spirited game of tug-of-war.

Present at the event were Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal; Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, finance officer; Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister and vice principal, Vilma Fernandes. Kiran Shetty, dean and student council director compered the programme.

The Children’s Day celebration at St Aloysius Pre-University College was a resounding success, bringing together students and staff in a joyful display of unity and talent. The day’s event showcased student creativity and collaboration, reflecting the college’s commitment to fostering an environment where every student has the opportunity to shine.
