Mount Carmel Central School holds annual sports meet with Children’s Day

Mangaluru, Nov 15: The Annual Sports Meet of the primary section of Mount Carmel Central School, was held on November 14 along with Children’s Day festivities, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere.

The programme commenced invoking God’s blessings. The chief guest, Sr Carissima, the administrator of the school and the coordinators were warmly welcomed. In her message, Sr Carissima wished and blessed the children on Children’s Day, urging every child to engage at least in one sport and declared the sports meet open by releasing the balloons into the sky with a wish to strive higher and nobler.

Then came the moment when the races began and the air was filled with the five S’s of Sports - strength, speed, stamina, skill and spirit along with tons of encouragement for the young athletes. The true spirit of sportsmanship was portrayed in all the events throughout the day. The winners were felicitated with medals and certificates soon after their event.

Post lunch, the students assembled in the auditorium to celebrate yet another event “Children’s Day”. The programme commenced with prayer. The chief guest, the school's physical instructor Sir Praveen was welcomed by every student with a thunderous round of applause. Sir, in his message appreciated the talent of every student in the field of sports, the cooperation of his fellow colleagues and greeted children on Children’s Day.

The staff exhibited the love for their students in an assemblage of soulful singing and dance. Student Lavanya delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. Teacher Rosette anchored the programme. It was truly a gratifying day for the children.
