Udupi, Nov 18: In a shocking incident, a home nurse employed to take care of an elderly man in Udupi allegedly stole valuables from the house.
Prasad (57) from Badagubettu, Udupi, had hired Siddappa K Kodli, a home nurse, through a health care service in Udupi’s Parkala area around 15 days ago to assist in the care of his father.
On Sunday, November 17, between 9:15 am and 1:15 pm, Siddappa reportedly stole a 6-gram diamond earring set valued at approximately Rs 43,800, which was kept on a glass rack in the hall of the house. In addition, he allegedly took gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 31,17,100 from a secret locker in the bedroom. The total weight of the stolen items is estimated to be 427 grams.
Following a complaint by Prasad, a case under Udupi City Police Station, crime No. 194/2024 has been registered under Section 306 BNS.
The police are investigating the incident and have begun efforts to track down the accused.
