Mangaluru, Nov 23: The AICTE IDEA Lab of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) and the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), are set to organize a three-day hands-on workshop on the ATL curriculum and the Internet of Things (IoT) for Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) school teachers and students from the Dakshina Kannada district conducted in association with the department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Industry and Innovation Group, the workshop will take place from November 25 to 27 at the IDEA Lab on the SJEC campus.
This initiative aims to empower participants with practical skills in electronics, IoT, and innovative technologies, aligning with the National Education Policy's emphasis on STEM learning and innovation. The workshop is specifically designed to support ATL teachers and students in fostering a culture of problem-solving and creativity.
Since its inception in 2021, the SJEC-AICTE IDEA Lab has been actively supporting and training teachers and students of Atal Tinkering Labs in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi regions. To date, more than 1,000 students and approximately 200 teachers have benefited from workshops and domain-specific hands-on training sessions.
Workshops aims at participants engage in hands-on activities covering varieties of topics such as electronic components and circuits, creating a traffic light circuit with switch, building an automatic street light using LDR and a solar-powered electric fan, comprehensive introduction to arduino (basics 1 and 2), PCB etching and working with sensors and actuators, basics of ESP32 microcontroller and IoT applications, such as controlling LEDs using mobile apps and plant monitoring systems, training on design tools like tinker CAD and slicing software for 3D printing and project guidance for participating in school innovation marathons.
The workshop is expected to inspire and equip participants to leverage IoT and innovative technologies in ATL-based projects, encouraging students to address real-world challenges. Teachers will gain valuable insights to guide their students in the upcoming school innovation marathon, organized jointly by the Ministry of Education, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), government of India.
