Udupi, Dec 14: A delegation comprising leaders of various organizations met district deputy commissioner and superintendent of police on Tuesday December 13, relating to the allegation of sexual harassment levelled against physical education teacher of Polipu government school, Chandrashekhar Adiga. Terming the charges against the teacher as malicious propaganda let loose by vested interests, they asked the officials to form investigation team without the participation of local police personnel, to bring out truth.

It may be recalled that the students of the school, and the mother of a girl student, had accused the physical education teacher of the school of sexually harassing a girl student, recording the same in mobile phone, and then threatening the girl of dire consequences. The students had also boycotted classes recently, demanding action against the teacher in question. Chandrashekhar Adiga and some others have termed the charges as baseless, and have offered themselves to any kind of investigation.

“We had earlier requested the assistant superintendent of police to undertake in-depth investigation into the allegations and bring out the truth. But he has failed to do anything. We demand for conducting exhaustive investigation into all aspects concerning this episode, and punishment of the persons found guilty. Failing compliance, we will organize strong protests,” the delegation warned.

The delegation was made up of district level leaders of Government Employees Association, Teachers Association, Primary School Teachers Association, Aided Primary Schools Teachers Association, PU College Physical Education Teachers Association, Association of Drawing Teachers, and Physical Education Teachers Association.
