Mangalore: City Student Runner Up at International Abacus Competition

Mangalore, Dec 14: Shivali M S, ninth standard student of Sri Ramakrishna High School in the city, has bagged the runner up position in the grand level of the final round of the 17th International Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition held recently at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysis.

Students from over 50 countries of the world had taken part in this competition. In the past too, Shivali had bagged four first prizes at national level and two top positions in the state level. She is the daughter of Prof D Shivalingaiah, registrar of Tumkur University, and Gayatri M S, Kannada lecturer of government PU College in Balmatta here.

Shivali was trained by Vinayaka Prabhu, franchisee of Abacus in the city.
