Mangaluru: Wiping society's tears is god's work, says Nalin at Deepotsava celebrations

Mangaluru, Nov 23: A pro-social programme was organized on Friday night by the Young Brothers Sports Club under the leadership of former mayor Divakar Pandeshwar, as part of the Deepotsava celebrations of Pandeshwara Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple.

During the event held near the Ashwathakatte of Pandeshwara, financial aid was provided to underprivileged families. Sewing machines were distributed, and scholarships were awarded to beneficiaries. The programme also honored social worker Eshwar Malpe and PWD officer Mithun for their contributions.

Former MP Nalin praised the initiative, stating, “Former mayor Divakar Pandeshwar has exemplified how one can earn public affection through social, cultural, and religious activities. His efforts in uniting people and providing skilled equipment and assistance to the needy are commendable. Wiping the tears of society is truly God’s work.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath also lauded the programme, saying, “It is heartening to see Divakar Pandeshwar organizing pro-social initiatives every year during the Pandeshwar temple Deepotsava.”

The event was attended by dignitaries, including Mayor Manoj Kumar, Deputy Mayor Banumati, BJP district president Satish Kumpala, MCC Chief Whip Premananda Shetty, former mayor Sudhir Kumar Shetty Kannur, BJP Mangaluru South President Ramesh Kandettu, and entrepreneurs Ajit Chowta and Rajesh Punia. Divakar Pandeshwar, who is also the president of the Young Brothers Sports Club, played a key role in the programme.

The event began with a welcome by Shivananda Mendon, while Manjula Shetty compered the programme. The evening concluded with a vibrant dance and music event, 'Pandeshwar Night 2024'.
