Mangaluru, Nov 24: The Dr K V Devadiga Charitable Trust and the Karnataka State Devadiga Sangha honoured exceptional young achievers at a glittering awards ceremony held at the Devadiga Samaja Bhavan in Mangaluru on Sunday, November 24.
The event, which celebrated excellence in various fields, was inaugurated by Prof Dr P L Dharma, vice-chancellor of Mangalore University. He praised the trust's efforts to acknowledge young talent and promote societal unity, saying, "This is a prime example of how recognising achievements fosters societal transformation. The Devadiga community should serve as a model for India’s growth."
Chaired by Dr K V Devadiga, renowned neurosurgeon and president of the Trust, the ceremony saw several distinguished figures speak about the importance of education, hard work, and social contribution. Dr Devadiga emphasised, “The youth must seize opportunities, stay committed, and set an example for future generations.”
Harish Sherigar, director of Akme Building Materials Trading Ltd, urged the youths to take advantage of opportunities and work diligently to make their families and country proud. “Success comes through perseverance, and Dr K V Devadiga’s leadership is a true inspiration for all,” Sherigar remarked.
Awards were presented to outstanding individuals in various categories, with notable recipients including:
- Dr K V Devadiga Excellence in Medical Education Award: Dr Simran Salian (Bengaluru), received by Jayalakshmi.
- Excellence in Postgraduate Education: Neha Yadav Devadiga and Sharan Kumar (Bengaluru).
- Outstanding Young Entrepreneur: Tejas Sudhakar (Bengaluru).
- Outstanding Young Musician: Akshatha Sherigar (Udupi).
- Excellence in Engineering Education: Nihal N (Bengaluru).
- Excellence in Teaching: Dr Prashanth Kumar K (Karkala) and Dr Shaini Naveen (Mangaluru).
- Outstanding Social Worker: Jyothi Praveen (Mangaluru).
- Excellence in Sports: Sushmita Ravindra Devadiga (Ujjodi).
- Highest SSLC Marks Award: K M Sinchana (Mangaluru).
The ceremony was attended by Dr Bhavana Sherigar, vice-president of the Trust, Ashok Moyli, president of the Karnataka State Devadiga Sangha, and several other dignitaries.
Dr Devaraj K, secretary of the Trust, welcomed the guests, while the programme was hosted by Veena Ganesh and Tilak Raj G.
The evening was a celebration of achievement, with musical performances adding to the lively atmosphere. The awards not only honoured individual accomplishments but also highlighted the contributions of the Devadiga community in various fields.
