Mangaluru: Dept of MLT at YSAHS organizes significant scientific session

Mangaluru, Nov 25: In line with the global observance of antimicrobial awareness week and International pathology Day, the department of medical laboratory technology at Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences (YSAHS) organized a significant scientific session. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of antimicrobial stewardship and the vital role of pathology in healthcare.

The inaugural ceremony of the session was presided over by Dr B H Shreepathi Rao, pro vice chancellor of Yenepoya Deemed to be University. Dr Sunita Saldanha, dean of Yenepoya Allied and Healthcare Professions, graced the occasion as the guest of honor.

Esteemed experts in the field, Dr Ethel Suman, associate professor of the department of microbiology at KMC Mangaluru, and Dr Shivakumar, principal of Father Muller Allied and Healthcare College, served as the resource persons for the scientific session. Their insightful talks addressed current trends in antimicrobial resistance and the critical importance of pathology in diagnosis.

As part of the event, a model competition and a poster presentation competition were organized for students, encouraging them to showcase their innovative ideas and knowledge on the subjects of antimicrobial resistance and pathology.

The event was well-received by faculty and students alike, reinforcing the importance of continued education and awareness in these crucial areas of healthcare.
