Mangaluru, Nov 25: Former US vice president Al Gore and Dr Edmond Fernandes, hon director, Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health - An Advanced Technical Cooperation Centre with Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) met up at a private gathering of climate leaders recently curated by the climate reality project.
Dr Edmond Fernandes discussed with the former US vice president about how climate leaders must begin looking at climate action from a perspective of global health and why it becomes extremely crucial to address climate negotiations from a global health stand-point.
Dr Fernandes further emphasized to Al Gore about why human health conversations must gather centre stage in UNFCCC and COP dialogues and not be a left-over focus in shaping a climate friendly world.
Al Gore is an American politician, businessman and climate activist and Dr Edmond Fernandes is an Indian physician working at the intersection of climate change, food systems, agriculture, occupational health, disaster and sustainability.
Dr Edmond Fernandes is also working on various public health thematic convergence through the Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health and through CHD Group.
