Mangaluru, Nov 27: The students of the Eco Club and the Centre for Environmental Concern (CEC) at St Aloysius PU College embarked on an inspiring field trip to Kadammaje Farms, Uppinangady. This immersive experience combined education with recreation, offering an in-depth understanding of sustainable practices and biodiversity conservation.
The visit was an eye-opener to innovative waste management solutions, featuring practical demonstrations on vermicomposting and in-house biogas production. These sessions highlighted the significance of recycling and resource efficiency, providing students with actionable insights into creating a sustainable future.
Beyond waste management, the students had the opportunity to observe and learn about the farm’s diverse ecosystem. They explored the domestication of various species of fish and animals, alongside witnessing beekeeping, fish rearing, and organic farming practices. These activities offered a firsthand glimpse into the interconnectedness of biodiversity and sustainable farming techniques.
A standout feature of the trip was the workshop on grafting. The resource person captivated the students with a meticulous and enthusiastic demonstration of the process, fostering a profound appreciation for sustainable agricultural practices.
