Adani Foundation Bhoomi Puja performed for Infrastructure development works Belapu Grama Panchayat

Udupi, Nov 29: Adani Power Limited of Adani Group, which is operating a power plant in Kapu Taluk of Udupi district - Udupi TPP, today performed Bhoomi Puja for concreting of Belapu / Padubidri Railway Station connectivity road, the project being taken under the CSR grant of Adani Foundation. The project costing Rs 17 lacs got kick-started by way of Bhoomi Puja performed jointly by Kishore Alva, executive director & president of Adani Group and Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, president of Belapu Grama Panchayat.

Speaking on this occasion, Kishore Alva informed that concreting of railway station road would benefit the passengers plying to Padubidri Railway Station, located in Belapu. The Belapu Grama Panchayat has requested for development of this road and submitted the action plan for the FY 2024-25 to Adani Foundation for considering execution of work under CSR. Accordingly, Adani Foundation would be executing this concrete work, Alva added.

He expressed happiness that Belapu village has transformed, and it has become a Model village with the presence of Government Polytechnic college, Industrial units and upcoming Agricultural University, paving way forward for increase in number of passengers in Belapu Railway Station, justifying the need for development of Belapu / Padubidri Railway Station road.

Alva further informed that Adani entity is implementing various developmental works in the vicinity of its thermal power plant in the field of education, health, infrastructure development and promotion of rural sports, art, and culture. Under Infrastructure development activities, the company has declared totally Rs 23 crores for infrastructure development works, out of which nearly Rs 13 crores development works have been completed. Belapu Grama Panchayat has so far benefitted with infrastructure development works worth Rs 2 crores in addition to the social development works in the field of Health and Education, Alva added.

Applauding the CSR initiatives of Adani Foundation, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty informed that the only road connecting to Belapu Railway Station is in deplorable condition making it difficult for the passengers / vehicle movement to ply. Several requests were made to Railway authorities to improve the road. However, Panchayat did not get a response from the Railway Department. Considering the need for and importance of development of railway station road, Belapu Grama Panchayat decided to include the project in Action plan for submission to Adani Foundation for considering the execution under CSR, Dr. Devi added. He expressed happiness that Adani Foundation has agreed to take-up the project under its CSR. He further informed that the passengers movement at Belapu Grama Panchayat is increasing every day and the Panchayat has demanded for stoppage of Trains plying to Mumbai and Bangalore at Belapu / Padubidri Railway Station.

Sudha Krishna Murthy, PRO from Konkan Railways, informed that the Belapu and surrounding villages are being benefitted with the various social development works from Adani CSR.

Shobha Bhat, Vice President of Belapu Grama Panchayat, Sharath Kumar, Sulaiman, Usha, Soumya, members of Belapu GP, Ravi Jere, AGM of Adani UPCL and Anudeep from Adani Foundation, were present on the occasion.
