Mangaluru, Dec 1: St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai celebrated its annual feast by honouring its patron, St Francis Xavier on Saturday, November 30. The festivity marked a significant moment of community participation and a celebration of thanksgiving for God’s choicest blessings on the parish community.

The celebration commenced at in the evening. by honouring the donors, well-wishers and the leaders of the community for their generosity towards the betterment of the parish.

As the culmination of the festal mass, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated with great joy, festivity and a sense of thankfulness to God for all the blessings received through the intercessions of the patron in the past year.

 

Fr Suraj Lobo, the vice principal of St Monica School, Kumbla was the main celebrant for the day. He emphasized on the aspect of prayer in the life of a Christian faithful under the theme, ‘Lord, teach us to pray.’ A total of twenty-eight priests concelebrated and a congregation of thousand were present.

At the end, the parish priest, Dr John Baptist Saldanha thanked the celebrant, concelebrants, religious sisters and the parish community including the generous donors for their whole-hearted support and generosity towards the parish projects.

Ashok Pinto, the vice president, Avitha Pinto, the secretary, Godwin Pinto, convener of 21 Commissions, and other members of the Parish Pastoral Parishad, ward Gurkars and representatives, leaders and members of various commissions and associations took active part in the celebration and arrangements to make the day a successful one.
