Beltangady, Dec 3: A man who entered the Netravati River at Koodige in Belalu village on Monday evening has gone missing.
The missing individual has been identified as Prasad (38), a resident of Suruli Kundadka in Belalu village.
Fire service personnel and members of the calamity response team visited the location where Prasad was last seen. Diving expert Eshwar Malpe was also called in to assist with the search. Reports suggest that three people entered the river, but Prasad drowned. Locals suspect he may have become entangled in a fishing net. The depth of the river at the site of the incident made immediate rescue attempts by locals unsuccessful.
Prasad was an RSS activist and served as the district chief of the Samarasya division. He had also worked as a Pracharak for six years. In addition to his social activities, Prasad was involved in small-scale contracting and agriculture.
Local residents and police continue their search for Prasad.
